Real Wedding – Rachael and Ben’s Country Wedding at Mythe Barn
Rachael and Ben had their hearts set on a barn wedding close to home. Discover how they created their dream day at Leicestershire wedding venue, Mythe Barn.
Location, location, location
Having hunted through countless barn venues, Rachael and Ben had found plenty of rustic settings but none in their preferred postcodes.
“After browsing wedding magazines, Instagram and online, we came across Mythe Barn and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t found it sooner. It was only half an hour from home,” Rachael recalls.
“When we arrived at Mythe Barn we were greeted in the Cart Barn. This is the lobby/bar area and I remember thinking how beautiful it was. I fell in love straight away! Ben just looked at me and laughed and said, ‘By the look on your face, do we even need to look around?'”
Homespun style
This couple’s DIY efforts began with the wedding invitations, which were made by the groom.
“Ben is a big handy man and said he’d like to make some decorations for our wedding. He created a table plan ladder, an easel for our welcome sign and together we spray-painted bottles to become vases.”
Painted by Katie provided a bespoke sign with gold writing to complement the rustic Leicestershire wedding venue and the couple’s gold and blush colour scheme.
The couple entrusted their wedding flowers to Hannah from Bloom Fleuriste.
“When Hannah arrived at our wedding venue in Leicestershire with the van stacked full of flowers I was so excited! The venue smelt amazing filled with fresh flowers, which really complemented the barn’s rustic style.”
Dress of dreams
Rachael stepped down the aisle at Mythe Barn wearing a Stella York gown from The Bridal Boutique Warwickshire.
“This was the last boutique I visited and having tried so many dresses on and not found the one, I felt a little upset. The girls really put me at ease and when they laid out my train to see, I gasped! I loved everything about the dress – the keyhole back, lace detail and neckline…”
The bride accessorised with Rainbow Club shoes, her favourite perfume and diamond and pearl earrings.
Her bridesmaids joined her wearing the ‘Salma’ design by Ghost in the chic oyster colourway.
Here comes the groom
“My only request when it came to the groom and groomsmen outfits was that they wear matching shoes,” Rachael laughs. “Ben didn’t understand what the fuss was about at the time, but looking back on the photos now he does.”
The groom looked dapper in a slim-fit navy suit from Moss Bros.
Romantic soundtracks
“We hired Something Acoustic to perform during the ceremony and drinks reception. I chose Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You’ for my walk down the aisle. Live music really does create the most romantic atmosphere,” Rachael recommends.
“I was the most nervous I’ve ever been before walking down the aisle. It’s a strange feeling because I didn’t know exactly why I was nervous. But, as soon as I saw Ben waiting at the end of the aisle with a beaming smile, it put me at ease. It’s such an exciting and amazing feeling when you’re about to marry your best friend.”
Dinner and dancing
The expert on-site catering team cook up a storm for celebrations at Mythe Barn and Rachael and Ben’s wedding was no exception.
“Food was a big factor for us choosing our Leicestershire wedding venue. We absolutely love to eat out and try different restaurants, so it was important that our wedding menu reflected this. The food at Mythe Barn was delicious – the beef melted in your mouth! It was perfectly presented and tasted amazing.”
After the feast, the newlyweds shared their first dance to ‘The One’ by Kodaline in the romantic setting of their wedding venue in Leicestershire.
