Old Palace Chester Cheshire
View Venue
For a setting of history, romance and natural beauty, this wedding venue in Cheshire is just the place. The gardens and surrounding parkland make Combermere Abbey a true hidden gem.
Starting with the morning of your wedding, the recently renovated Keeper’s Cottage is the ideal spot to get ready and spend time with your loved ones before exchanging your vows. Put the finishing touches to your look before entering the picturesque walled garden, just a few steps away.
The characterful Glasshouse sits at the apex of the stunning walled garden, providing an unforgettable and unique setting in which to hold your ceremony. Updated in 2022, the Glasshouse brings the outside in and features a decorative tree adorned with blossoms and birdcages at its centre, connecting it with the surrounding gardens and woodland. Enveloped by a unique fruit tree maze, you can tie the knot in this wonderful light-filled space with your guests all around you.
The centre of the maze itself is perfect for an al fresco ceremony with views of the idyllic gardens all around. Those who would prefer a religious ceremony will be pleased to know that there are picturesque churches just a short drive from Combermere Abbey.
A few steps away from the Glasshouse is the Pavilion. Sat within its own beautiful, private garden it offers the perfect space for your wedding breakfast and evening reception. This space was totally reimagined in April 2023, creating a stylish and contemporary setting for romantic wedding celebrations that bring the outside in. It boasts an inviting lounge and bar area, an updated al fresco terrace for relaxing, and a large reception area with exquisite mirrors that bathe the room with light and offer reflective views of the surrounding gardens. Couples can also really make this space their own by adding decorations and florals to create a personalised style.
Combermere Abbey takes pride in the food, drink and service they offer via their in-house catering and event management team. They guarantee the very highest standards through every part of your day with delicious food options from start to finish. Picture canapés and cocktails in the gardens, a personalised menu of seasonal dishes for your wedding breakfast, and tempting wood-fired pizzas in the evening cooked right before your eyes at the outdoor kitchen!
After the festivities have drawn to a close, the North Wing Honeymoon Suite, set within the historic abbey, provides a luxurious and suitably grand setting to relax and let the events of the day sink in. With a private entrance, butler service and views over the mere...you might never want to leave!
There is plenty of accommodation for your guests too, with space for up to 49 in the picturesque Courtyard Cottages. Boasting comfort and style, they can be booked for the night of your wedding.
