Inside a Magic Breakfast Aspiration Day

How Artemis is supporting young people through Magic Breakfast

At Artemis, we’re all about setting the stage for the unforgettable, and recently, we took this principle beyond our wedding and events and into a local primary school!

Recently, ten members of our team spent the day at a primary school in Ellesmere Port, taking part in an Aspiration Day run by Magic Breakfast, the UK’s leading school breakfast charity, who we’ve been working with since 2025.

Magic Breakfast makes a difference to over 350,000 children and young people every day by offering breakfasts and expert advice to tackle morning hunger in schools across England and Scotland.

This wonderful experience brought our partnership to life in a truly tangible way.

What is an Aspiration Day?

Aspiration Days are designed to open up the world of work to young people. Volunteers from partner organisations spend time with students, sharing their career journeys, answering questions, and helping them understand the many different paths available to them.

Aspiration Days are all about building students’ confidence, sparking curiosity, and showing that there’s no single route to success.

Bringing Artemis to the classroom

We brought together team members from across head office and two of our local venues, Old Palace Chester and Combermere Abbey, to take part in the event. These team members represented a wide range of roles, from event managers and chefs to marketing, project management, sales, IT, bar, and finance.

Working in pairs, the Year 6 students rotated around the room, spending eight minutes with each of us. In that short time, we spoke about our roles, shared our own career journeys, and answered the students’ questions.

More importantly, we got the chance to listen to the students. We heard about their ambitions, their favourite subjects, and what they enjoy both in and out of school. Some knew exactly what they wanted to do. Others were just beginning to explore their options. We had so many great conversations and lots of laughter along the way!

Experimenting with colour-changing lemonade

One of the highlights of the day was a workshop delivered by Zac from Old Palace Chester, where students learned how different liquids change colour when mixed, resulting in a refreshing drink to enjoy at the end, polished off with some healthy garnishes.

To help fuel and energise the students during the session, our Chef de Partie from Old Palace Chester, Ellie, prepared a batch of delicious homemade flapjacks for the children to enjoy. Each student was also given step-by-step instructions to take home, so they could recreate them for themselves if they were feeling inspired.

More than a partnership

Experiences like this show what our partnership with Magic Breakfast looks like in action. We’re proud to be raising funds and volunteering for Magic Breakfast to support their vision: a UK where every child is nourished, empowered, and thriving.

A day to remember

It was a fantastic day, filled with energy, laughter and genuine connection. For our team, it was a chance to step outside of our usual roles and see the impact of our partnership first-hand.

For the students, we hope it offered inspiration, encouragement, and a glimpse into what their future could hold. And for all of us, it was a powerful reminder that small moments can create lasting impact.
